3 Healthier Dessert Alternatives

Just because you want to give a tasty dessert gift or need an after-dinner treat does not mean you can’t make it healthy.  Although it’s gotten harder to keep the healthy choices in mind with the variety of sweets out there, it can be easy with certain comparable options.  This brief list of goodies will blow you away with how easy it can be to find a healthier dessert option, give a healthier gift basket or just have a healthier (but still tasty) snack for a sweettooth.

  • If you think there is never a healthy chocolate choice, you’re wrong!  These Organic Nectars Raw Cacao Bars are made using raw cacao instead of roasted, which ensures a healthy natural chocolate bar jam-packed with nutrients.  Their raw, vegan and organic ingredients means there’s no dairy, soy, refined sugar or gluten, making them a great dessert for all6744 6 piece bar sampler 430x430 diets.  For a fruity kick, try the raspberry flavor!
  • If you aren’t about to change up your favorite candies or brands (or know someone like this), this 2.5lb assortment of sugar-free candies is a decent alternative.  It includes items we all know and love, including but not limited to Hershey bars, Reese’s peanut butter cups and Salt Water Taffy.  If you’re one to stay loyal to your favorite kinds of candy and do not plan on budging, this is something to take a look at.
  • One of my favorite products on the site is the Frozen Fruit Soft Serve Processor, which gives you a healthy frozen snack and a great ice cream alternative.  It takes all types of frozen fruits and turns them into a treat that has a frozen yogurt consistency.  It’s a great way to get kids off of unhealthy ice cream and set on eating delicious fruits, but trust me; it’s not just for children because you will love it too.

My absolute favorite health and snack blog is called Snack Girl, and if you haven’t read it yet, I suggest you do!  Lisa, the author, delves into the world of snacks, sharing healthy alternatives to junk food, her favorite healthy recipes and the major snacks to avoid.  She knows her stuff and the importance of staying healthy in a world full of “bad for you” food!
